This weekend was unbelievable, we arrived on Friday the 22nd collected our score cards and squadding times at reception, the weather was very cold for the time of year as it is everywhere, but that’s okay you can wrap up against the cold.
We at Haverfordwest Shooting Club hold competitions and shoot in all kinds of weather because we are roughty toughty shooters!!, but Bisley SAW weekend was something else as you can see from the pictures.
We awoke Saturday morning to a WHITE OUT; the temperatures were zero and forecasting minus one or two through the night followed by icy condition for the morning (Sunday morning). We drove to the ground to check out the situation and to find Adam who had driven from Carmarthen that morning. There weren’t a lot of shooters there at the time, certainly not as many as there unusually are; my guess is they were snowed up in their home areas.
Adam missed his first shoot which was on the Plate range.
Melville range grounds were like slush pits and the snow was still falling, we saw a few of the regulars, had chat, but decided not to shoot in view of the predicted forecast and the conditions on the ranges.
We hope to have some better luck regarding the weather for the Phoenix competition at the end of May.
