Here is a report on the SAW at Bisley held last weekend from Marek.
Marek, Rob Wheeler, Adam and Lorraine travelled to Bisley to represent HWTSC at the SAW (Spring Action Weekend)
Adam and Lorraine had a rushed day having to shoot some long comps. in the afternoon on the Range Officer’s day. Middle of the road scores according to Adam, who is now firmly in charge as the Bisley 1500 Chief R.O. He was on Melville E and could be heard on Melville A. He was ably assisted by Lorraine, who turns targets faster than the guys can shoot.
Rob did really well, true talent coming through; -especially as he started his weekend with his small bore rifle jamming. He won the 1020 full bore outright in X class, as well as achieving 2nd in the 1500 and 2nd in the speed steel challenge. He also he came 3rd in advancing Man Small Bore and 4th in Advancing Man Centre Fire.
Marek had a solid shoot. Out of 6 events over the weekend, he won 2 and came 2nd in three. Wins were in the T&P 1 X class revolver, even with numb from cold fingers unable to work speed-loaders in the middle of the 2 minute stage. Yes!! He also achieved a 1st in Multi-Target Revolver. The second places were in Precision 25m LBR, Precision 25m LBP and Multi-Target LBP.
Bisley always throws up something new, for example Robert`s jamming magazine in the middle of a comp.;- a power breakdown affecting the turning targets so some of us we had to wait 2 hours to start shooting, and in general, shooting in such cold conditions.
We almost had to slap life back into one of the range officers who really struggled, and looked like someone returning from the Eastern front. Good fun- good experience and good beer after.
