Very good turnout for the field air target competition on the 3rd. It was held in the 50m range and was a very pleasant evening. All the competitors thoroughly enjoyed the competition but we need to start prompt at 7pm as it got a little chilly and damp towards the end of the competition. Full results on the web-page, sorry there aren't any pictures, I forgot to take my camera.
28th and 29th June
Welsh Muzzle Loaders Championships together with the 40th Anniversary of the Club
The Celebrations of the 40th Anniversary on Saturday the 28th was a wonderful success. The weather was very kind to us and the BBQ was excellent thanks to all the members who helped prepare same.
It was so nice to see some of the old members returning to the Club and what a surprise they had, there has been many changes since their days. Especially good to see was the last living founder member of the Club, Neville and Mavis Pryce-Jones and Min Evans.

Bob Everitt from the Aberystwyth Club won the Championship Cup, the full results are on the Results Page.

Very disappointing air competition on the 5th due to lack of support. The only person to enter was Steve Lloyd a new member. It takes a lot of time and effort for the Range Officer to set out the course, the least the air section could do would be to enter. There is a shield to be won at the end of the season but it looks as if it might stay on the shelf.

Several of the boys took off for Bisley Phoenix Competitions on the Spring Bank Holiday. They had a good time, the weather wasn't too bad. Barrie Learmont was disappointed with his scores but nerves crept in as it was his first time at Bisley, it has made him more determined than ever to rectify his scores for next year. For the 25m Timed and Precision the 1st place score was 300 x 15. Barrie was in 21st place with 292 x 11, from that you can see the standard of shooting you must compete with, he also took 8th place in the Multi Target with 101. John Munt had a second place in the 50m Precision MLP with a score of 100 but the winner had 112 very high and close scoring. YOU CAN GET THE FULL RESULTS FROM THE NRA ON OUR LINKS PAGE - NRA - GO TO NEWS - THEN RESULTS, AND RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE YOU WILL FIND PHOENIX MEETING RESULTS 2008. The field air competition which was held on 8th had six contestants, father and son took the first two places, scores weren't brilliant but I think we were losing the light.

The summer league air competition held at the club on the 10th was the first for several years. It was very well attended and consequently we needed two squads. Those that took part found the competition exhilarating and those who spectated enjoyed the evening. It was nice to see all the shooting points full and people waiting their turn to shoot, 'just like the old days!!!
We have had a very good start to the competition shooting season with the Black Powder on the 6th which was well attended. The competition didn't go on too long and everybody went home for lunch.
March 08
Nothing much happened in the way of competitions this month. We cancelled the Welsh Muzzle Loading Championships due to unforeseen circumstances. This competition has been re-arranged for the Saturday and Sunday 28th and 29th of June 2008. The Practical competition which was to be held on the 29th June has been postponed until further notice.
On the Saturday the 28th June we will be holding a celebration evening at the County Showground Restaurant to celebrate the club's 40th anniversary. We would very much like to see the past and present members attending. There will be a pig roast, roast beef, spuds, salad bar and drinks on a buffet basis. Anyone who would like to come along and re-unite with members would be very welcome, but please contact the secretary on the e-mail before the 14th June in order to ensure the numbers attending as soon as possible please!!
The 1500 match that took place on the 30th March was well attended considering the time changing to BST on the Saturday which meant we had an early start. The morning went well and so did the sausage and bacon sandwiches, a very enjoyable morning.

Our visit to the Modern Print Shooting Club on the 12th was very successful and I would like to thank them all for their hospitality. We came away with a total score of 173.4 compared to Modern Prints score of 164.4. However, they gave us an unfair advantage by allowing us to sit with bench support. A full list of results will be published on the web site as soon as we receive them from Modern Print.
All of our members who attended the shoot enjoyed their selves very much and are looking forward to the return match at Haverfordwest.

January 20th 08 Competition (PP1)
Happy New Year to all our old and new members and our friends. The season started with a very good turnout for the first competition of the year in spite of the weather being misty, dizzily and very wet at times.
It was good to see one of our older members (Alan Belcher) returning to the fold for some competition shooting. Considering he hasn't used turning targets for a while he shot extremely well - we will need to watch out for him.!!!
The score sheets for the winter competition which was organized for the black powder, the .22 and the air rifles must be handed in by the 27th January, in order to be scored ready for the prize giving at the AGM.
