It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Colin Ledwith, who died early on Tuesday morning in South Pembs Hospital. Our Chairman David Scheeres was at his side.
Colin was a long term member of the club, but was not what you would call a competitive shooter, although he liked to plink and visit the clubhouse with his two dogs of a Sunday morning.
He was really a collector, especially of cased percussion revolvers. He had amassed quite a collection of London Colt’s, which was his speciality. He was also a member of the HBSA and attended meetings of the Welsh Branch in Chapel Bay Fort right to the end. He also gave lectures on Colt Revolvers and the perfidity of Sam Colt.
Several years ago he expressed an interest in going to America, as he had never been. Dave and I therefore took him along to Maryland where we attended a gun fair and also visited many Civil War battlefields including Gettysburg and Bull Run. He was keen to repeat the process and go again right to the end.
