This weekend was unbelievable, we arrived on Friday the 22nd collected our score cards and squadding times at reception, the weather was very cold for the time of year as it is everywhere, but that’s okay you can wrap up against the cold.   We at Haverfordwest Shooting Club hold competitions and shoot in all kinds of weather because we are roughty toughty shooters!!, but Bisley SAW weekend was something else as you can see from...

Rossi ’92 .38 / .357

My first under-lever, bought for Gallery Rifle competitions was a Winchester ’94 AE (replica – of course!). I really enjoyed shooting it but the action was just too unreliable for competitions and there was a high risk of it not cycling properly and causing jams at crucial moments. I managed to sell it though (well, ‘buyer beware’ and all that!) and I used the cash raised to get this gun. I had intended to go for...

Ruger 10/22 Custom

This started life as a very basic Ruger 10/22 which, even with my very limited shooting skills was a bit rubbish for competitions! Here’s how it looked to start out with…     So I gradually customised it over the next year or so until the only remaining part from the original gun is the receiver! It is the gun I enjoy shooting the most – even though accuracy with LBRs can pose the biggest challenge of any of the sort of Gallery Rifle shooting we do at the Club. It takes much more practice to become proficient in LBRs than the time I can devote to it, but we do have some shooters such as Marek Pawlik and Richard James whose LBR skills...

We awoke on Saturday to find it had snowed during the night. After scraping the ice and snow off the cars and driving to the shooting ground the temperature was only 2 degrees and the wind from the North was absolutely freezing.   In spite of all the conditions Marek had a brilliant shoot on Saturday with 2 – 1st a 2nd and a 3rd place. With icy rain and strong wind he had a 297 x 16 with his LBR in the T&P which I thought must be...

The Wild West Bisley Weekend – 25th / 26th August 2012

Hello members news from Bisley.   Saturday morning in Bisley the weather wasn’t too bad, not sunny and quite warm but the afternoon was horrendous weather wise.   We were trying to shoot T+P1 when it thundered with lightning and rain coming down like stair rods stopped the shoot because of targets falling off, boards were falling down and one bank of targets failed to turn completely so we had to move from C to D...
