If anyone is vaguely interested in visiting the Wanenmacher Arms Fair in Tulsa Oklahoma 2010, can you let me know?

I travelled out last year leaving on a Thursday and returning the following Monday. The plan is to spend 2 days at the Fair, a day at the John Davis Gun Museum which is the largest private (and free entry!) Gun Museum in the world leaving some time for visiting Outdoor World which is a huge 50,000 sq ft warehouse designed to ensnare shooters and anglers with every conceivable gadget a shooter might want at prices that would seem cheap to Oriental child workers!

Dear Shooting Friends

Please find below the Governemnts response to the E-Partition to use Bisley for the 2012 Games and the return of .22 Target Pistol

The Olympic Board confirmed in October 2009 that the Royal Artillery Barracks at Woolwich will be the venue for staging the Olympic and Paralympic shooting events. The Olympic Board decision has also received the full support of the International Olympic Committee and the International Shooting Sports Federation.

Anyone who wants to shoot on a MOD range including Bisley this year will need a Range card. Martin Roberts as Club Chairman will issue these cards first come - first served. So see Martin ASAP.

THE NRA ARE TURNING CLUBS AWAY THIS YEAR BECAUSE MEMBERS HAVE NO RANGE CARDS

Hello all, long time no post...

I understand that people have become a bit frustrated at the recent problems with the website. I'm really sorry about this. I embarked on a major revision and have been so busy that I had been unable to find the time to finish it up - leaving it temporarily in a bit of a state. I hope that things are better now and once you've all updated your bookmarks and favourites to the right place - i.e. the old address of haverfordwestshootingclub.org.uk, you'll be able to make use of it once again.

Now all I need to do is find some time for a bit of shooting!

If you miss the good old magazines like Handgunner, Guns review, then check out the following two web sites

Just like the good old days

Anyone interested in taking up Fullbore Target Rifle Shooting at distances greater than we can offer - 100 to 1200 yards could do worse than joining Bullet Lodge Rifle Club of which I am a member. For more details have a look at their new web site www.bulletlodge.co.uk  or contact me for more info/ discussion.

There is a 10% discount on gunsafes at Gun Cabinets Direct at the moment if anyone needs more space. the web site is http://www.guncabinetsdirect.co.uk/ and you can get a further 2% off if you orderin the next 2 weeks.  Just enter a coupon code GCD2. Still they look a bit expensive to me so shop around.

That's what you have to have once you get into this shooting malarkey! But no-one thought to mention that when I was signing up.

The trouble is, that once you get your first few guns, then suddenly browsing web sites that sell you shooting stuff change from a 'one day when I get my FAC'-experience into a 'pass the credit card, this stuff won't hang around for long...' one! And having placed your order, you wait. And wait.

And wait some more...

The rules governing Black Powder Purchase and Transportation (POMSTER) have changed again. From your next FAC renewal your Black Powder "Fit Person" or Explosives certificate will run concurrently with your 5 year FAC term. In addition the Recipient Competent Authority Document (RCA) will run for the same length of time. You need this to take your black powder from the shop and to and from the ranges you use it on.To make things even more exciting, the H&SE Explosives Inspectorate have now moved to

Tel 0151 951 4025
Fax 0151 951 3891
e mail explosives.licensing@hse.gsi.gov.uk.

To get a RCA for the first time send a fax or brief letter stating this is your first application and attatch a COPY of your explosive certificate (which you must get first from the Police)
Renewals are easier - you just need to send them a copy of the explosive certificate together with ONE of the following
1. A renewal application form that came with the original RCA
or - A copy of the existing RCA
or - A letter asking for renewal
Do not send any originals to them. You can do an application or  renewal via E mail but check the quality of your explosive Certificate copy if you scanned it.
Allow 10 days for the process which is free. (It normally comes by the next post)
Do not use any of the old contact numbers that you find on the old renewal forms - just use those above.
