Chairman Charles Rone opened the meeting with a very positive appraisal of the recent increase in enthusiasm for active participation of members in club activities and competitions. He then advised the meeting of his intention to stand down from the committee and Dr Martin Roberts was duly elected by the meeting as our new chairman for the forthcoming year.
Dr Roberts is known to many as a very enthusiastic and active participant in the activities of the club. He is also ‘resident RFD’ and has very kindly donated 2 brand new trophies to the club for muzzle-loading competitions. These are scheduled to take place on the new 50m range which is due to open shortly.
Reports were presented to the meeting by the Membership Secretary, John Munt, the Club Secretary, Jan Trussler; the Treasurer, Alan Davies and also the Competitions Secretary, Tom Davies.
A new executive committee post of ‘Range Development Officer’ was announced. In recognition of Barrie Learmont’s considerable expertise in range matters, he was voted in unanimously as the first incumbent. Barrie was also thanked by the meeting for his dedicated work in project managing (and labouring!) on our new 50m range.
